Tapline reads your device's own usage statistics to show you how long you used your phone, and it keeps that analysis on your device. We do not run our own servers and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. Third-party services used inside the app (advertising and in-app purchases) may process limited data as described below.
Tapline uses Android's Usage Access permission (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS), which you grant yourself in Android Settings. With it, the app reads the events Android already records: which app was brought to the foreground, when the screen turned on or off, and when the device was unlocked. From those events the app builds your daily and weekly report on the device.
Tapline never reads the contents of your screen, your messages, or anything you type. It does not use an accessibility service. It only sees which app was used, when, and for how long.
Your report settings (notification time and day, idle threshold, language choice) and the notification text templates are stored locally using Android's app storage. Usage figures are recomputed from the system each time you open the app and are not uploaded anywhere by us. All of it is deleted when you uninstall the app.
| Service | Purpose | Data | Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Showing a banner on the settings screen and an optional rewarded video | Advertising ID, device and app information, approximate location derived from IP | policies.google.com/technologies/ads |
| Google Play Billing | Processing the ad-removal purchase | Purchase token and order status (handled by Google; we never see your payment details) | policies.google.com/privacy |
Your usage statistics and app-by-app figures are never sent to these services or to us.
Usage access (granted by you in Android Settings) for the report. Notification permission for the nightly and weekly report. Internet access, required only by the advertising and purchase services above. The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, precise location, or files.
This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads served in the app are configured through Google AdMob and follow Google Play Families policy requirements where applicable.
You can turn Usage Access off at any time in Android Settings, and the app will stop reading usage data. You can reset or delete your advertising identifier in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. Purchasing "Remove ads" stops the banner in the app.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
